On October 7, 2023, the School of Natural Sciences, in collaboration with the SSC officers and marshals, organized a weeding activity and invited other departments to participate in the Busol watershed.
Cleaning out the area near the newly planted pine trees was to create optimal conditions for tree growth and development. Removing weeds, debris, and competing vegetation from the surrounding area gave the trees the best chance to thrive. This process helps ensure that the young pine trees receive adequate sunlight, nutrients, and space without competition from other plants. Clearing the area around the trees promotes their health and establishes a conducive environment for their growth, ultimately contributing to the success of the tree-planting initiative.

The pathway from the highway to the designated area was quite challenging. There was no defined pathway to the designated area, and the ground needed to be more clear as it is situated near a watershed, making the soil soft. Reaching the area felt like a hike, as determination was needed to reach the designated area. The task of manually pulling weeds by hand near the little pine trees offered additional challenges due to equipment limitations and the necessity for cautious handling to prevent harm to the vulnerable pine trees.
Despite the challenges, the journey was ultimately rewarding and worthwhile. Each weed removed helped to create a healthier environment in which young pine trees needed to thrive.
